Altopiedi, Philip Joseph Jr. 60, of Tampa passed away Sept. 24, 2011. He
was born in Newburgh, NY, where he graduated Newburgh Free Academy and
moved to Tampa in1978. He loved antique cars and trucks and was a member
of the National Hot Rod Association. He was a retired entrepreneur from
several businesses, Alto Construction, Tumbleweed Cafe and Altopiedi
Trucking. He was preceded in death by his parents, Philip Joseph
Altopiedi, Sr. and Josephine N. LaRosa Altopiedi. Phil is survived by his
loving wife of 39 years, Susan Lynn Maharay Altopiedi; daughters, Kimberly
Dawn Altopiedi Lindsey (John), Rebecca Sarah Altopiedi Johnson (Marc);
beloved grandchildren, Amber Johnson, Ryan Johnson, Emilee Johnson and
Daniel Lindsey, all of Tampa; sister, Donna Wilner (Ron); niece, Jourdan
Wilner and nephew, Jared Wilner; sisters-in-law, Julia Coss (Jon), Sharon
Leary and Lisa Polen (Doug); brothers-in-law, Terry Diller (PJ), Michael

Anderson, Ernest J. a resident of Newburgh, NY entered into eternal rest
on Monday, February 11, 2013 at St Luke's Cornwall Hospital, Newburgh
campus. He was 60 years old. The son of the late Ernest and Delores
Anderson, he was born July 15, 1952 in Newburgh. He was employed at IBM
East Fishkill, NY for 15 years. He also was employed at The Glenn Hines
Boys and Girls Club of Newburgh for 14 years. Ernie's passion was singing
and he sang with 2 groups; The Sensational Wonders and Words of Wisdom.
Ernie also helped families during the holidays. Survivors include a
daughter, Keisha Young of Newburgh, NY; one son, Tyler Anderson of
Newburgh, NY; one brother, Reverend Dr. Wayne Anderson of Honolulu,
Hawaii; one sister, Linda M. Anderson of North Carolina; three
grandchildren: Patrick Anderson, Adrian Young and Anthony Myers, all of
Newburgh; a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends. He
was predeceased by his parents, Ernest and Delores. Ernie will lie in

Badger, Eugene Alanson (Alan) passed away after a long battle with
cancer in 2000. Alan was survived by his 2 sons, Eric and Ryan Badger both
in Burlington, Vt. his sister Anne Badger Waddell in Pensacola,
Fl., nieces Kimberly Waddell Wells and Sarah Waddell in FL and a
nephew Cpl. Ernest Waddell Jr in the Marine Corps, stationed in
Afghanistan. Alan lived in Middlebury, Vt, loved cooking and operated
a restaurant in Middlebury. He is greatly missed by all who new and loved

Barksdale,
Deberah Marie Toussaint, 60 passed away May 1, 2013. She was born in
Baltimore, Maryland, the beloved first daughter of Lovelie Barksdale and
the late Willie Barksdale. She was educated in the Newburgh City School
District and later attended Russell Sage College in Troy, NY and earned
her Master's degree in Nursing at Hunter College, NY. Deberah was a
registered nurse in the emergency room at Cabrini Medical Center, NY for
over 30 years and worked in other hospitals throughout New York City and
the Hudson Valley during her professional career. Deberah truly enjoyed
nursing and helping people. She was always eager to learn and took pride
in her profession, believing it was her most genuine way of touching
people's lives in her community. She was an active member of Ebenezer
Baptist Church in Newburgh, NY and volunteered every week at their soup
kitchen. She was also active in the NAACP, Department of Elections and the
Orange County Chamber of Commerce. She is survived by her mother, Lovelie
Barksdale of Newburgh; her daughter, Jene' Toussaint of Brooklyn, NY;
sisters: Malinda Barksdale-Mitchell (Aubrey) and Lovelie
Barksdale-McHolder (Dennis) of Newburgh, NY, Bernadette Williams Buxton of
Tempe, AZ, and Denise Millard of Middletown, NY; as well as several
nieces, nephews and cousins. She was predeceased by her husband, Rolly
Toussaint. Mrs. Toussaint will lie in repose from 10 to 11 a.m., Tuesday,
May 7th at Ebenezer Baptist Church, 76 First Street, Newburgh. Services

Barnett, Gary R. Sr. formerly of Newburgh, NY, passed away on November 24,
2009 from injuries sustained in a motor vehicle accident. He was 57 years
old. He was the son of the late George and Jean Goemann Barnett. He is
survived by one son, Gary Jr.; two brothers, G. Wm. (Linda) Barnett of
Newburgh and Bruce (Pamela) Barnett of Wappingers Falls; two sisters,
Bonnie McIntyre of Highland Falls and Lois (Harry) Brundage of Schroon
Lake, NY. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews. An Irish wake
was held in Gary's honor in Myrtle Beach, SC on November 27, 2009
Barr, Bruce of
Palos Verdes CA, was born August 30, 1952 passed away April 26, 2011after
a 3 year battle with cancer. Born in Newburgh NY, he was a graduate of
University of Virginia and UC Davis Law School. He was an Eagle Scout,
champion high school wrestler and avid traveler. He served in the US Navy,
was a lawyer for CalTrans and a member of the National Guard. He is
survived by his wife Kikue and his four children, Kiko, Kana, Kazuma, and
Sayo and his parents, William and Nancy Barr. The Memorial Service will be
held on May 9th at Pacific Unitarian Church at 11:30am.

Bianco,
Nicholas J. Jr. of Albany, N.Y., formerly of Cornwall, a former employee
of the Holiday Inn in Newburgh, and Touch of Class Restaurant, died
Saturday July 30, 2005 at St. Peters Hospital in Albany, N.Y. He was 54.
The son of the late Nicholas J. Bianco, Sr and Regina Knight Bianco, he
was born February 28, 1951 in Newburgh, and was the husband of the late
Loretta Brought Bianco. Survivors include his mother of Newburgh; a
daughter, Nicole Bianco and her fianc , Christian Brunett Jr., of
Virginia; a son, Michael Bianco of the Town of Newburgh; two sisters,
Gaetana Bianco and Christine Young and her husband, both of the Town of
Newburgh; brothers, John Bianco and Vince McKenna of Palm Springs,
Calif.; one uncle, Joseph Knight of Newburgh; close friends, William
Young and John Plude of Albany; and also several nieces, nephews,
cousins, great-nieces and great-nephews. Calling hours will be held on
Wednesday August 3, 2005 from 2-4 and 7-9 PM at the James F. Lulves
Funeral Home, 9 Ave. A, Cornwall-On-Hudson, N.Y. A funeral service will
be held at the funeral home on Thursday, August — at 10:00 AM. Burial

Borland, Valerie Jean "Sue" McCullom, 62, of Gulf Breeze, Florida,
passed away June 10, 2014, following a long illness. Her parents Marion
and Robert Borland preceded her in death. Sue was born in Long Island,
New York and was a graduate of Newburgh Free Academy in Newburgh, New
York. She moved to Gulf Breeze, Florida in 1977 where she remained a
resident until her death. Her fun-loving, free spirit touched everyone
she met. She passionately enjoyed life to the fullest through music,
art, hiking, kayaking and cooking. Above all she enjoyed spending time
with her family and friends. She is survived by her loving husband,
Thomas McCullom; daughter Darcy McCullom Scarborough, her husband
Randall Scarborough and grandchildren Patrick and Ella. Other survivors
include her sister Lynne Olivero; her brother Robert Borland, Jr. and
his wife Cathy Borland; sisters-in-law Ellen McCullom, Margot Burgess
and her husband Richard Burgess; brother-in-law Hugh McCullom and his
wife Sarah McCullom; nieces and nephews Robin Olivero, Matthew Olivero,
Jennifer Pryne, Kimberly Quimby, Robert Borland, III, Lisa Vitaj, Sean

Brown, Timothy W. "Tim", 61, of Annville, PA passed away unexpectedly on
January 23, 2014 at Harrisburg Hospital. Born in Newburgh, NY, he was
the son of the late William E. Brown and Jane M. (Berry) Brown. He
worked in loss prevention at Sears for more than 20 years, owned his own
woodworking businesses, and recently worked at Precision Motor Transport
Group. He enjoyed woodworking, fishing, and motorcycles. He is survived
by daughter Alissa, wife of Todd Warren; granddaughter Sarah Jane A.
Warren; brother Jonathan Brown; and girlfriend Lisa Harman. Two memorial

Burger,
Harvey "Burg" died March 27, 2011, he was a lifelong resident of
Newburgh, NY. He attended schools in the district and graduated from
Newburgh Free Academy in 1970. He was a proud member of Local Union 825
(Operating Engineers) for more than 30 years. Early Sunday morning God
called "Burg" home to rest. He let him know his work here on earth was
completed and his work was well done. The son of Harvey J. Sr., and
Luzetta Burger, he was born on March 20, 1952. Harvey will be greatly
missed by his loving wife Linda Lewis-Burger at home; daughters, Tanisha
(Beresford) Hutchinson, Joyce (Precious) Burger and Cheryl Lewis, all of
Newburgh, NY; his brother, Hamilton (Hammy) of Newburgh; sister,
Gwendolyn (Gwen) Taylor of Tarpon Springs, FL; seven grandchildren; a
host of nieces, nephews, cousins, aunts, uncles, and numerous friends.
Special friends that he loved dearly were the Harris "Boys" (Ronnie,
Tyl, Biggie), Michael Dudley, Anthony Bruce, Jessie Howard and Peter
King. Harvey was a role model to many of the young men and boys
throughout the years. They saw him mature into a successful business man
and wanted to emulate his patterns, often coming to him for advice. Burg
was so proud of the years he spent as a Boy Scout attaining the level of
Life Scout under the leadership of his dad. At the age of 12, Harvey
began his first stint as an entrepreneur as a paper boy. He delivered
newspapers to a large area in the East end of Newburgh while hiring his
brother to help with the deliveries. His latest entrepreneurial venture
was partnering with his wife in the ownership of Burger's Wine and
Spirits located in the City of Newburgh. Harvey was one of the original
members of the Gigolo Motorcycle Club and as one person described him,
he was always a trendsetter, well known for his flashy cars and
motorcycles. Those that spent time with him fondly remember his unique
ability to imitate others so precisely. He enjoyed entertaining everyone
with his candid imitations. We are elated knowing that "Burg" is in the

Cavallo, Joseph M. of Fairfax, CA, formerly of Newburgh, entered into
rest on Monday, June 14, 2010 in Fairfax, CA. He was 57. Son of Virginia
Risio Cavallo and the late Michael Cavallo, he was born on October 5,
1952 in Newburgh. He graduated from Newburgh Free Academy and attended
the University of South Carolina and SUNY New Paltz. Joe was an
excellent piano player and music lover. Through the years, he
entertained many people with his humor, talent and creativity. He played
at many local clubs and clubs in northern California. He is survived by
his sister, Patricia Cavallo of Newburgh; uncle, Ralph Risio; aunts,
Louise Risio and Margie Cavallo; and his many beloved cousins. He was
predeceased by his infant son, Michael Cavallo; uncles, Angelo and
Rosario Cavallo; aunts, Amalia Cavallo and Mary Campolo.Memorial
visitation will be held from 10:30 a.m. to 12 p.m. on Friday, June 18,

Chauncey, Vicki Ann Partington age 60, went to be with The Lord on
October 4, 2012. She was born on May 11, 1952 in Newburgh, NY to the
late William and Dorothy Chauncey. Vicki is survived by her loving
husband of 41 years, Ken Partington; three sisters: Lois (Stan)
Brundage, Esther (Ed) Conroy and Lisa Mahan; one brother, Daniel (Wanda)
Chauncey; several nieces, nephews, other family members and good
friends. Vicki was a member of Huber Heights Baptist Temple in Huber

Cohen, Paula Lynn died in a car accident November 24, 1971 at the
age of 19.

Constable, Thomas W. Jr.- Born April 23, 1952 Died December 20,
1989......Tom was an adventurous person from the start. After graduating
from Newburgh Free Academy in 1970, Tom attended Southern Methodist
University in Dallas, TX where he received a BS in Political Science.
However, Tom's passion was always in New York, so he moved back and
instead of following the typical career path, he followed his passion -
meeting people. There he became a bartender and all around fun person. He
ran with the bulls, and traveled all over the world. He was survived by
his mother, Alice Bettner (since passed); father Thomas W. Constable, Sr.;
sisters, Arlene Constable (since passed) and Sharon Roberts; brothers
David Constable and Steven Bettner Jr. nephews Shawn and Rob Roberts; and

Constable Tom had a Masters Degree in Political Science
from SMU. Tom was owner an VP of Southwest Book Services in
Dallas Texas and later moved to NY City and worked for Shearson / Leamon
Brothers in the World Trade Center. After years in the corporate world Tom
decided to follow his heart and successfully managed and bartended at
several hotspots throughout Manhattan. He traveled the world and even ran
from the Bulls in Pamplona.

the Orange County Dept. of Corrections in Goshen, and a lifetime area

Center. She was 50. The daughter of Helen D. Leathem Curry and the late
Thomas C. Curry, she was born July 19, 1952 in Newburgh. Carolyn was a

Davis, Richard Michael 33, of Brandon, Florida passed away October 8,

Dennis,
Kathleen A. died Feb.1, 1999 in Newburgh New York. After living in Boston,
Chicago, Venezuela and Florida she returned to Newburgh to spend her final
days at home. She was a graduate of Vasser School of Nursing and worked in
many areas. She started her career at Mass. General Hosp. and ended it at
Columbia Hosp. in Fla. She is sadly and deeply missed by her family
friends and the many lives she touched along the way.

Thomas was killed in a drowning accident on Orange Lake in Dec, 5th

Elting,
James M. former Chairman of the Accounting Department and Professor
at Mercy College, Dobbs Ferry, died Saturday, June 26, 1999 at Westchester
Medical Center. He was 47. Mr. Elting was born in Newburgh, NY on February
1, 1952, the son of William and Elizabeth (Bannon) Elting. He was a
graduate of the Newburgh Free Academy and held a BBA in Accounting from
Sam Houston State University, and an MBA in Taxation from Pace University.
He is the former Chairman of the Accounting Department and was an
accounting Professor at Mercy College in Dobbs Ferry. Prior to his
association with Mercy College he worked at Kane-Miller Corp. in
Tarrytown, Publiker in Greenwich, CT and at Texaco. He also had a private
CPA practice in Hawthorne for many years. Mr. Elting was a member of Holy
Rosary Church in Hawthorne, and served on the church council for many
years. Mr. Eltingės wife, Katherine Johnson Elting predeceased him. He is
survived by a son, Gregory Elting of Hawthorne; a son from a later
marriage, Stephen Elting of Fishkill; a sister, Judy Holbrook of Cornwall,
NY; and 2 brothers, Robert Elting of Providence, RI and Timothy Elting of

Fayo, Michael P. entered into eternal rest on Friday, October 4, 2013 at
Westchester Medical Center in Vahalla. He was 61 years old. The son of
Michael L. and Genevieve (Lastowski) Fayo, Jr., Michael was born on
October 2, 1952 in Newburgh, NY. He was a graduate of NFA class of 1970
and earned his associates degree from OCCC. Michael served his country in
the U.S Army Reserves. He was a self employed contractor. Michael was a
member of the Town of Newburgh Planning Board from 1996 to 2002. He served
as Chairman from 1998 to 2002. He was a stand out baseball player, having
graduated from the Tarr Oval Baseball program. Mike loved to play golf
when he could and was one of the charter members of the “Acapulco Golfing
Club”. He was member and past exalted ruler of the Newburgh Elks BPOE 247.
Mike was also an inspector for the New York State Athletic Commission from
1997 until present. Michael was a loving son and brother. He was beloved
“Spanky” to his cousins and friends. He will be missed by all who knew
him. He is survived by his sister Michele Fayo of Newburgh, several Aunts
and Uncles, many cousins and friends and his beloved dog Diesel. Michael
was predeceased by his parents. Visitation will be held on Sunday, October
6 from 2 to 8 pm at Brooks Funeral Home, 481 Gidney Ave., Newburgh. The
Elks will hold a service at 7:30pm during visitation. A Mass of Christian
Burial will be held at 10 am on Monday, October 7 at Sacred Heart Church.

Fogarty, Patrick William of New Windsor, loving father, husband, brother,
godfather, uncle, and friend to so many, passed away on Saturday
afternoon, July 23, 2011, after a heroic seven-year battle with cancer.
The son of the late James E. and Dorothy Beyer Fogarty, he was born
August, 30, 1952 in Newburgh. A lifelong resident of New Windsor, Pat was
best known as a long time trusted mortgage broker in the Newburgh
community for more than 20 years, owning PJ Fogarty Mortgage Services for
over a decade. He previously owned the Fishkill location of Fogarty Shoe
Store. Active in the community he loved so much, he gave back by being a
board member of Family Counseling Services for many years, and could often
be found playing basketball with friends old and new in New Windsor on
Sunday mornings. Perhaps his proudest accomplishment was being awarded
"Greatest Dad and Best Man on the Planet" in July, 2011, following careful
consideration by a selection panel made up of his wife and daughters.
Survived by his devoted wife, Penny Tamsen Fogarty; his daughter, Paige
Fogarty of Brooklyn; his daughter and son-in-law, Erin Fogarty and Daniel
Bittner, also of Brooklyn; his sister and brother-in-law, Kathleen and
George Stradar; his brother and sister-in-law, James E. and Colleen
Fogarty Jr.; his sister and brother-in-law, Mary and John Angell, all of

August 21, 2010, at the Kaplan Family Hospice Residence, Newburgh. He
was 58. Son of Sue Hill Rogers and the late Kenneth L. Gustafson, he was
born January 29, 1952, in Glen Cove, Long Island, NY. He married Frances
C. Gustafson on December 10, 1988, who survives at home. "Roy was a man
of few words but great heart." He graduated from of the University of
Bridgeport with a degree in Manufacturing Engineering and worked for
Spence Engineering. He was a lifetime member of Grace United Methodist
Church, Newburgh, where he served as a lay leader and speaker. He was
also an active member of the Boy Scouts for many years. In addition to
his loving wife of 21 years, he is survived by his daughter, Carla
Chilton and her husband, Peter of Greenfield, MA; stepdaughter, Jennifer
Stanton of Toledo, OR; sister, Barbara Tudor and her husband, Chuck of
New Windsor; brother, Bruce Gustafson and his wife, Amy of West Hurley;

30 years and a long time resident of California, died November 30, 2004
at Rideout Hospital. He was 52. Born on October 9, 1952 in Illinois,
Robert lived most of his childhood in New Windsor. He was an Airforce
Veteran and a member of E. Clampus Vitus Clampers- Grass Valley/ La

Christine Wilkinson passed away June 1, 1983. She was born on
February 7, 1952 and married Chris Wilkinson, NFA Class of 1970.
They had a daughter Molly, and lived in the Boston/Plymouth, MA area at
the time of her death.
Hopper, Sandra L. Coover, 51, of rural Galesburg, Kansas died early
Sunday, Aug. 29, 2004, from injuries received in an automobile accident
near Iola. She was born Sept. 5, 1952, in Kingston, N.Y., to Alfred "Al"
and Mabel "Sis" (Johnston) Hopper. She married Donald P. "Don" Coover on
July 22, 1977, at West Point Chapel in West Point, N.Y. He survives of
the home. She grew up and attended school in Newburgh, N.Y. She
graduated from Newburgh Free Academy High School in 1970. She graduated
from Mount Saint Mary's College in 1974 with a bachelor of arts in
elementary education degree. She earned a master of science in
elementary education degree from Kansas State University. She taught at
elementary schools in New York, South Korea, Texas, and Manhattan, Kan.,
before moving to the Galesburg area. She most recently taught at Thayer,
Erie and St. Paul elementary schools. She was a member of First
Presbyterian Church in Parsons and the Kansas Reading Association.

Lewis, Salina Smith was born March 9, 1952, in Newburgh, and departed
this life on Wednesday, February 9, 2011, at her residence. She was the
only child of the late Berkley Lewis and Lillie Salyton Lewis. As a
lifelong resident of Newburgh, she was educated in the Newburgh Enlarged
City School District and graduated from Mt. Saint Mary's College in 1984
with a BA in English and minor in Philosophy and Special Education. In
2007, she retired from the Orange County Department of Social Services
after nine years as a senior social case worker. Most recently she
joined the Foster Grandparents Program. Those who knew Salina can attest
to her passion for education and for serving her community. She was an
advocate for women and children. This is reflected in her work with
various local organizations which include the YWCA, The Newburgh
Ministry, McQuade Children's Services, Saint Cabrini, Orange County Jail
and the Headstart Program. She also was a substitute teacher for the
Newburgh Enlarged City School District. Salina was an expert planner and
fundraiser, and lent those abilities to organizations which resulted in
receiving government grants. She attended the Trappagan School of
Design, obtained her state license as a life insurance agent, a Master's
degree in Theology and also trained as an LPN. Salina once said, "In
order to have friends you have to be a friend." She was a friend to many
in the city of Newburgh. She touched many lives and will be dearly
missed. Survivors include her husband, Harvel O. Smith of Newburgh;
daughter, Rebecca Davis of Atlanta, GA, and grandson, Justin C. Corporal

McGowan, John R. Jr. of Wallkill, NY and Naples, FL, entered into rest on
April 20, 2014 at Westchester Medical Center in Valhalla. He was 61 years
old. A lifetime resident of the area, John was the owner and operator of
JM Excavating, Inc. in Walden. The son of the late John R. McGowan, Sr.
and Marie (D’Angelo) McGowan, John was born on July 16, 1952 in Newburgh,
NY. John was a graduate of NFA, class of 1970. He was married to Madeleine
Mulligan on October 25, 1980 at St. Patrick’s Church in Newburgh. John was
an active member of the Wallkill Lion’s Club, Osiris Country Club – Board
of Directors, Habitat for Humanity, Cypress Woods Country Club, Sacred
Heart Parish, and Bridges. John was the beloved husband of Madeleine and
devoted father of Courtney McGowan, but a caretaker and hero to his entire
family. He was a shining example of courage, generosity, and strength. He
was a leader, a friend, and everyone’s “go-to guy.” There was never a
problem that he could not fix. He will be deeply missed by all who knew
him, but will remain in their hearts forever. His legacy of service to
others and devotion to family will live on through his family and friends.
John is survived by his wife of 33 years, Madeleine at home; his daughter,
Courtney of Newburgh; his mother Marie of Wallkill; his siblings: Stephen

Rossi, Linda J. Roscoe, Formerly of Newburgh, N.Y. Funeral Services for
Linda J. Roscoe, 53, of Ormond Beach, Fla., who died Wednesday, June 7,
2006, was held Saturday, June 10, 2006, with Fr. Richard Grasso
officiating in the chapel of Lohman Funeral Home Ormond, 733 W. Granada
Blvd, Ormond Beach, Fla. Linda was born on October 30, 1952 in Brooklyn,
N.Y. She was Catholic. Linda was a real estate agent for Watson Realty
in Ormond Beach, Fla. She was also the co-owner of Ronlyn's Lawn Care.
Linda enjoyed collecting roses. She was preceded in death by her
daughter, Layla Roscoe. Linda is survived by her husband of 24 years,
Ronnie; her sons, Anthony Masiero (Amber) of Wilmington, N.C. and Aryan
Roscoe of Ormond Beach, Fla.; her parents, Fred and Rosaria Rossi of
Cornwall; her brother, Thomas Rossi of Miami, Fla.; her sisters, Pat
VanStrander (Bruce) of Newburgh, and Ellen Pierce (John) of Palm Coast,
Fla.; her grandson, Aaron Masiero of Wilmington, N.C., and several

Seymour,
Gary of Wallkill, a lifetime resident of the area, entered into rest on
Tuesday, March 20, 2007 in Westchester Medical Center, Valhalla, N.Y. He
was 54. Son of the late John and Mary Conners Seymour, he was born
November 28, 1952 in Newburgh, N.Y. Gary proudly served his country in the
U.S. Army. He attended SUNY New Paltz where he obtained his B.S. in
Zoology, as well as Life Chiropractic in Georgia, where he earned his
Doctorate Degree in Chiropractic Medicine. He served as Director for the
not-for-profit organization Hudson Valley Wildlife, coached for the
Newburgh Nuclears American Legion, and was a member of the New Windsor
Rockets Baseball Club. Gary will be remembered as a free-spirited
individual who loved the outdoors. He was a devoted "uncle" to ALL
children, and above all else, was thoughtful and giving. Perhaps you have
something from Gary in your home. Survivors include his loving wife,
JoAnn, at home; his son, John Graham Seymour; two daughters, Edna May
Seymour and Heidi Mary Conners Seymour; nieces and nephews: Sean Seymour

and godfathers to his three children: John Babcock, John Martin and Ed
Rightmeyer. Gary was also a devoted godfather to Kari Martin, Jennifer

Shaw, George Joseph III of Newburgh, N.Y. a civil
service employee of the U.S. Military Academy and Castle Point Veteran's
Administration, entered into rest Monday, December 16, 2002 at home. He
was 51. The son of Madeline Dolores Juba Shaw and the late George Joseph
Shaw Jr., he was born April 30, 1951 in Newburgh. George was a graduate
of Newburgh Free Academy, Class of 1970, and a parishioner of St.
Francis Church, Newburgh. "George was a devoted son, brother, uncle and
friend. He will remain in our memories forever young, a gentle giant
whose love and concern encompassed all he knew." Survivors include his
mother, Madeline Dolores Shaw at home; five brothers and sisters,
Kathleen Esfahanian of Essex, Conn., Gregory Shaw of Newburgh, Lorraine

Silver, John B. of Marlboro, a lifetime area resident, entered
into rest on Sunday, October 28, 2012 in Vassar Bros. Hospital,
Poughkeepsie. He was 61. Son of the late Roy and Joyce (Gibbs) Silver,
he was born March 9, 1951 in Marion, NC. John Silver was a family man
who loved his family and enjoyed life. John was a man who shared his
many talents with anyone who needed a hand. All who knew him will
remember his love for fast cars and racing, and enjoyed belonging to the
National Hot Rod Association Division 1. Although his sons were the best
gifts in his life, his grandson, Vincent John, gave him more joy than
words could express. He was a man of few words, but John's actions spoke
volumes and showed how caring he truly was. Survivors include his wife
of forty years, Phylis E. Silver, at home; his two sons, John Brian and
his wife, Nettie of Marlboro, and Jason Michael and friend, Eve Lincoln

Stafford, Gary - Gary passed away Nov. 5th 1992
Stevens, Lynn L. Viebrock, 62, of Fly Creek died Monday, May 18th at her
home. Born October 1, 1952 in Newburgh, Lynn was the daughter of Elmer
G. and Edith L. (Smith) Stevens, Sr. She was raised in the Newburgh
area, graduating from Newburgh Free Academy in the Class of 1970. She
was married to Ronald Viebrock who predeceased her in 2005. She is
survived by her daughter, Stacey (Chris) Grady of Cooperstown, and their
children: Beckett and Asher. She is also survived by her mother, Edith
Graziano and step-father, Lou, of Newburgh; two brothers: Jack Stevens
of Newburgh and Elmer "Steve" (Lori) Stevens of Campbell Hall, NY. Lynn
was a very private, independent and self-reliant woman. She enjoyed
spending time with her family and, following her husband's death, she
moved from the Wallkill area to Fly Creek in 2008 to be near her
daughter and grandchildren. Affectionately called "Oma", she especially
enjoyed spending time with and babysitting for her grandchildren. She
was a knowledgeable and avid reader of history, a wonderful seamstress,
she enjoyed flower gardening, designing and creating unusual, beautiful
and artistic jewelry, and visiting museums and historical locations. She
was comforted by and often expressed her gratitude and pleasure with the
loyal group of local friends and loved ones who have, and will in her
absence, provide a warm and loving support system for her daughter and
family. In accordance with her wishes there will be no services and her
burial in the Krumville Cemetery, Krumville, NY, next to her husband,
will be private. For those who so desire, the family suggests donations
in Lynn's memory to either the Cooperstown Food Bank, 25 Church Street,
Cooperstown, NY 13326 or to the Susquehanna Animal Shelter, 4841 State

Taggart,
Robert T. "Tiger" of Newburgh, passed away on Sunday, February 24,
2008 at St. Luke's Cornwall Hospital, Newburgh Campus. He was 56. Son of
the late Ewance and Violet Tuttle Taggart, he was born October 16, 1951
in Newburgh. He was married to Mary Anne Kocot Taggart, who survives at
home. In addition to his loving and devoted wife, Mary Anne, he is
survived by his loving and adored son Kyle Ryan Taggart at home; and his
sister, Virginia Taggart of Homewood, IL. He was predeceased by his
sister, Nancy Taggart. Visitation will be held from 4-8 p.m. on

Tucker, Raymond a resident of the Town of Newburgh, N.Y. died
Saturday, February 21, 2004 at home. He was 51. Born March 15, 1952 in
Newburgh, he was the son of the late Harold Tucker and Frances Thompson
Tucker, and the husband of Linda Groff Tucker. Ray was the former owner
of Protemp Heating and Air Conditioning, Inc. He belonged to the
Bethlehem Rod and Gun Club and the Southern Catskill Anglers. He is
survived by his loving wife, Linda; his mother, Frances Tucker of
Newburgh; sons, Michael Tucker and his wife, Nicole, of Wallkill, and
Shawn Tucker at home; daughter, Lisa Shuart and her husband, Jay, of
Wallkill; mother-in-law, Eleanor Groff of New Windsor; brother, Irving
Tucker of Newburgh; a sister, Carol Tucker of Newburgh; and two
grandchildren, Tyler Tucker and Ellie Rue Shuart. The family will

Wangner, Joanne A. of New Windsor, retired as a Library Page
for the Newburgh Free Library and lifetime area resident, entered into
rest on Monday, June 11, 2012 in Beacon. She was 61. The daughter of the
late Philip F. and Anita W. Wangner, she was born April 30, 1951 in Glen
Ridge, NJ. Joanne graduated from Newburgh Free Academy and Ellen Cushing
Junior College and was a lifelong member of the Newburgh SPCA. She is
survived by her siblings, Alden W. Wangner and his wife Mary Beth of
Woodbridge, VA, Philip F. Wangner III, and Maureen Hazel of LaGrange;
four nieces, two nephews, six great-nieces and three great-nephews.

Washington, Danny Ray "Butterfly" a 60 year resident of Newburgh, NY,
died Sunday November 20, 2011 at St Luke's Cornwall Hospital, Newburgh
campus. He was 62. Danny was born November 5, 1949 in Roseboro, NC to
the late Ella Mae Hancock and Cleveland Cooper. He was a 1970 graduate
of Newburgh Free Academy and a longtime supporter of the athletic
department. He was the unofficial coach at the basketball and football
games. Everyone was a "Rookie". "I float like a butterfly and sting like
a bee" was his saying. Everyone loved him and he will be greatly missed,

Weisner, Diane B. Gaffney of Newburgh entered into rest on Tuesday, August
20, 2013 after a fourth battle of Metastic Breast Cancer at Kaplan Family
Hospice Residence in Newburgh. She was 61. She was the daughter of the
late Robert Gordon and Estella M.T. Weisner, Diane was born November 1,
1951 in Newburgh. Diane was an employee at Mastercraft Inc. for fourteen
years. Prior, she traveled and lived in Norfolk , VA, New Salem, PA and
Natchitoches, LA. She was a member of Grace United Methodist Church. She
loved good books, great music, dirt track, Nascar and Harley's. Diane's
greatest gifts to life were her children and her volunteer work at the
church. Diane left this quote " I am leaving this world the way I was
born, as a free spirit and a roadrunner" Survivors include her son, Shawn
