Coonan, Anthony "Tony" John of Newburgh, a lifetime resident of the area,
entered into rest on June 14, 2014. He was 48. The son of the late Coach
Jack Coonan and Patty (Clavio) Coonan, he was born March 18, 1966 in
Newburgh. Tony attended Sacred Heart School, was a graduate of Newburgh
Free Academy, and was employed as a Pharmacy Technician for CVS. "If tears
could build a stairway and memories a lane, I would walk right up to
Heaven and bring you back again". He is survived by his loving family: his
sister, Marcelene "Marci" Vanduzer and her husband, Dennis; Uncle Tom
Coonan, Uncle Vincent Clavio, Aunt Theresa Clavio, niece and nephew,
Kristi and Cody Vanduzer; several very close cousins, and goddaughter,
Nicole VanAmburgh. He was predeceased by his grandparents, Frank and
Margaret Coonan and Anthony and Marcelene Clavio. Visitation will be held
from 4 to 8 p.m. on Thursday, June 19 at Brooks Funeral Home, 481 Gidney
Ave., Newburgh. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 a.m. on
Friday, June 20 in Sacred Heart Church, Newburgh, with burial following in

Hart, William S.
Jr. of Newburgh, died Tuesday, February 6, 2007 at St. Luke's Cornwall
Hospital, Newburgh Campus. He was 41. Son of the late William S. Hart, Sr.
and Annie Mae Bouyer, he was born June 9, 1965 in Newburgh, N.Y. A U.S.
Army veteran, he was a self-employed private contractor for Halliburton
Corp. in Houston, Texas. He attended Newburgh Public Schools. His most
current employment was as a Civilian Contractor in Germany. Survivors
include one son, William S. Hart III of Binghamton, N.Y.; two sisters,
Yvonne Hart of Bowie, Md. and Ruth Coates of Mitchellville, Md.;
granddaughter, Veronica Hart, and a host of nieces, nephews, other
relatives, and many friends. There will be no visitation. Funeral services
will be Wednesday, February 14, at 11 a.m. in New Hope Missionary Baptist
Church, 20 Briggs Way, Newburgh, N.Y., with the Rev. Dr. Coleman Biggs
officiating. Interment will be at Orange County Veterans Memorial
Cemetery, Goshen, N.Y. Rhodes Funeral Homes, 259 Walsh Ave., New Windsor,
N.Y. have been entrusted with professional arrangements.
Hayes, Stephen R. "Steve" of Newburgh, a former Machine Operator for
Champion International and lifetime resident of the area, entered into
rest on June 15, 2014. He was 47. The son of Franklin C. "Chet" and Eileen
M. (Sherwood) Hayes, he was born July 5, 1966 in Newburgh. Steve was a
graduate of Newburgh Free Academy and was a parishioner of St. Francis of
Assisi Church in Newburgh. His greatest joys were his first new car and
working at Champion. His greatest regret was losing his sight at 25, but
that didn't prevent him from being independent and having his own
apartment. Diabetes, heart and kidney failure took their toll, but now all
that pain and suffering are over. We will surely miss you Steve. He is
survived by his loving parents, Chet and Eileen Hayes of Newburgh; his
brothers, Chester A. Hayes and his wife Anne of Washingtonville and Paul
E. Hayes and his wife Marianne of Totowa, NJ; and nieces and nephews,
Jacqueline M. Hayes of Brooklyn, Marion E. Hayes and Chester F. Hayes of
Washingtonville. He was predeceased by his grandparents, Mr. and Mrs.
Matthew Orsino, and grandfather George E. Hayes, Sr. Memorial

Hopper,
Linda Elizabeth a lifetime resident of Newburgh, NY, entered into rest on
Tuesday, March 31, 2009 at the Kaplan Family Hospice Residence in
Newburgh, NY. She was 43. The daughter of Fannie Mae Wilkins Hopper and
the late Edward H. Hopper, Sr., she was born November 14, 1965 in
Newburgh, NY. Linda was a Home Health Aide for New York Healthcare
Services in New York, NY, and a member of the First United Methodist
Church, Newburgh, NY. In addition to her mother, survivors include her
fiance, Julio Figuero; five children: Shamika Hopper, Sean Eusty, Steven
Hopper, Rahmar Murray and Sasha Hopper, all of Newburgh; sister, Marjorie
Hopper and her mate, Michael Greene; two brothers, Edward H. Hopper Jr.
and his mate, Doreen Henry, and Robert Hopper Sr. and his mate, Odell
Henry; Godmother, Elizabeth Obie and Godfather, Eddie Obie Sr.; three
Godbrothers: Eddie Obie Jr., Anthony Obie and Jeffery Obie; four nieces:
Latara Greene of Illinois, Zahtisha Greene, Tinisha Greene of Newburgh,
and Monique Hopper of Washington, DC; two nephews, Robert Hopper Jr. and
Edward Hopper III; two great nephews, Nicholas Sheilds and Naversia
Alexander, both of Illinois, and one grandchild, Imani Hopper of Newburgh.
She will also be missed by her friends, neighbors and church family. She
was predeceased by her father, Edward H. Hopper Sr.; sister, Belinda
Hopper; grandmother, Iola Kimble, and grandfather, Lonnie Wilkins. The
family wishes to thank the Kaplan Family Hospice Residence and staff for
the great care given to Linda during her final days. A special thanks to

Maher, Shane Peter of Newburgh, passed away on Friday, September 15, 2006
at the age of 40. Son of William and Patricia Keist Maher, he was born on
October 5, 1965 in Newburgh. A family statement reads,"Shane was a loving
and caring individual. He was selfless in every-thing he did. We can only
pray that he is looking down upon us and watching over the family and
friends he enjoyed to be with so much. Shane will be missed dearly." Shane
graduated from Newburgh Free Academy with a Regents Honors Diploma in
1984. He earned a Bachelors of Science in Accounting from S.U.N.Y. New
Paltz in 1995; and was pursuing his Master's Degree in Accounting, also at
S.U.N.Y. New Paltz. For those who can remember, Shane was an avid swimmer
for the Newburgh Sharks and the Men's Varsity Swim Team at New-burgh Free
Academy. Shane was employed by the United States Mint at West Point; and
was treasurer of the American Federation of Government Employees Local
3740. Survivors include his devoted parents, William and Patricia; his
brother, Sean P. Maher and his wife, Linda of Walden; his sister, Meghan
Maher Torres and her husband, Joseph of Marlboro; and his niece and
nephew, Madeline and Cody Maher of Walden. Other survivors include his
uncle, Francis A. Maher and his wife, Monica of Beacon; his aunt, Doris
Maher of Newburgh; and his cousin, Francis A. Maher and his wife, Valerie
of Newburgh. Visitation will be held from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. on Monday,

Mann, Alfred E. Jr. of Bladensburg, Maryland, a ten year resident of the
area, died Tuesday, April 24, 2001, in Lanham, Md. He was 34. He was the
son of Alfred E. Mann, Sr., and the late Lula Mae Williams-Mann. He was
born November 30, 1966 in Newburgh, N.Y. He was a member of The A.M.E.
Zion Church, in Newburgh. Survivors include three brothers, Robert Edward
Mann and Kevin Mann, both of Newburgh, and Brian Eugene Mann of
Poughkeepsie; one sister, Grace Marie Mann of Newburgh; maternal
grandmother, Cynthia Williams Mann-Marshall of Newburgh and her husband
Russell Marshall. Visitation will be 12 Noon to 7 p.m. Tuesday, May 1, at
Brutus W. Hodge Funeral Home, 13 Chambers St., Newburgh. Funeral services
will be held 11 a.m. Wednesday, May 2, at A.M.E. Zion Church, 111

McAllister,
Phyllis Giselle French was born September 18, 1966 to Phyllis Jean
(Walker) McAllister and Nelson McAllister at St. Luke's Hospital Newburgh,
NY. She is the third of five children. She received her primary education
at Newburgh Free Academy graduating in 1984. She worked for IBM while
attending Orange County Community College, then transferred to Oral
Roberts University where she received her Bachelor's and Master's Degree.
While at Oral Roberts University she met and fell in love with Stacy T.
French. They were married in December 1995. Phyllis was predeceased by her
mother, Phyllis Jean (Walker) McAllister. She is survived by her husband,
Pastor TK French; her children: Zemirah and Arron French; her father,
Pastor Nelson McAllister; sisters: Monet Walker, Linda R. Henderson of
Newburgh, NY; brothers: Charles N.X. McAllister (Beth), Jason A.
McAllister Sr. (Vanessa) of Newburgh, NY, Brother Markus A. McAllister
(Gigi) of Baltimore, MD; nieces: Niaya Walker-Moffett, Tatiana McAllister,
Tabitha McAllister of Newburgh, NY, Giana McAllister of Baltimore, MD;
nephews: Xavier McAllister, Jason McAllister Jr., Jordan McAllister of
Newburgh, NY and Markus A. McAllister II of Baltimore, MD; three great
aunts; five aunts; one great uncle; three uncles; a host of cousins and
friends. Phyllis accepted the Lord as her personal savior while in high
school and served in the church choir, Youth Growing in Christ. A great
tambourine player, expediter, speaker and teacher, Gigi also loved sports;
she was a power forward on the North Junior High Basketball and the church
co-ed basketball teams. Her favorite scripture: John 5:24&25 Verily,
verily, I say unto you, He that heareth my word, and believeth on him that
sent me, hath everlasting life, and shall not come into condemnation; but
is passed from death unto life. 25. Verily, verily, I say unto you, The
hour is coming, and now is, when the dead shall hear the voice of the Son

Pullar,
Nancy A. of New Windsor, passed away on Thursday, September 3, 2009 at the
Kaplan Family Hospice Residence, Newburgh. She was 44. Daughter of W.
James and Donna R. Barker Pullar, she was born on May 26, 1965 in
Newburgh. Nancy was a graduate of Newburgh Free Academy and SUNY Delhi,
and an employee with the Town of New Windsor. She was a member of St.
Joseph's Church in New Windsor, Local 17, New Windsor CSEA and was a
former Girl Scout. "Our Nancy has gone to be with God after a courageous
battle with cancer. Our family and her many, many friends will miss her
smiling face and her helping hand. Her love for family and friends was
evident in all she did for us. She put everyone else before herself.
Nancy's love for sports and animals were known to all who knew her. As an
avid Dolphins and Yankees fan, she could discuss statistics with anyone.
Over the years, she stayed with numerous dogs in their homes when the
owners went on vacation. Those attending New Windsor concerts will
remember her and the help she gave her "seniors". Nancy remained a member
of Local 17 Laborers Union after leaving to work for the Town of New
Windsor. She is leaving behind the many friends she has made over the
years. She will be missed." In addition to her loving parents, she is
survived by her brother, William J. Pullar and his wife, Patricia of
Walden; nephew, William J. Pullar; niece, Shannon L. Pullar; and many
friends. She was predeceased by her paternal grandparents, William J. and
Anne C. Pullar; maternal grandparents, Harold and Lorraine Barker; and
step-grandmother, Barbara Barker. Visitation will be held from 4-8 p.m. on
Monday, September 7, at Brooks Funeral Home, 481 Gidney Ave., Newburgh. A
Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. on Tuesday,

Steven W. of Kingston, died Friday, June 23, 2006 in Coeymans, N.Y. He was
39. The son of Leonard A. Rossi and the late Catherine Reynolds Rossi, he
was born November 23, 1966 in Newburgh, N.Y. Steven was a truck driver for
Snapple Distributors in Albany, N.Y. He is survived by his father, Leonard
A. Rossi of New Windsor; one son, Kyle Rossi of Bullville; one daughter,
Chiara Rossi of Saugerties; one brother, James Rossi of Wappingers Falls;
one sister, Denise Matles of Maybrook; and aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces
and nephews. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, June 27, 2006 from 7-9
p.m. at the Gridley-Horan Funeral Home, Inc., 30 Orchard St., Walden, N.Y.
A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. on Wednesday, June 28 at St.
Mary's Church in Montgomery, N.Y. Burial will follow in St. Mary's

Stroud,
Willie Jr. of Newburgh, NY, a Custodian for Newburgh City Schools, and a
lifelong resident of the area died Wednesday, July 30, 2014 in Newburgh.
He was 49. Willie was a graduate of Newburgh Free Academy in 1984, see
Camera Shy. The son of the late Willie Stroud and Helen Marie Harrington
Stroud, he was born February 12, 1965 in Newburgh. Survivors include his
mother, Helen M. Stroud of Middletown; daughter, Asia Stroud of Virginia;
brothers: Tony Stroud and his wife, Melissa of Middletown, Randy Stroud
and his wife, Pam of Town of Newburgh, and Mark Stroud of Kingston, NY;
sisters: Debbie Stroud of Newburgh, Kisha Stroud of New Windsor, Dominique
Stroud of Newburgh and Marie Stroud of Newburgh; and nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be from 1 to 2 p.m. on Monday, August 4th at First United
Methodist, 245 Liberty St. Newburgh, NY. Funeral services will follow
