Mislock,
Jean Died 1991
Mosca, Andrew M. Jr. of Milton, N.Y. a retired history teacher in the
Newburgh School District and a 50-year Milton resident, entered into
rest Monday, January 6, 2003 at St. Luke's Hospital, Newburgh after a
courageous 3-year battle with diffuse systematic scleroderma. He was 59.
Andy was the son of the late Andrew and Mary Puzio Mosca. He was born
July 2, 1943 in St. Luke's Hospital, but spent the first nine years of
his life growing up in the Bronx. He was a 1961 graduate of Marlboro
High School and a college graduate of the University of Albany, where he
acquired a Bachelor's Degree. He then went on to receive a Master's
Degree and began his career teaching history. To Andy, teaching was more
than just a job and a way of life; it was his way to enhance the lives
of others. As advisor for People's Party in the N.F.A
Youth-In-Government Program, he helped cultivate political knowledge and
awareness in his students. He was also an active member of St. James
Catholic Church in Milton. By writing the history for his church's 125th
jubilee, he was able to blend his love of history with his faith in God.
Andy was an 15-year active member and former president of the Newburgh
Camera Club. Camping always provided him the scenery to take meaningful
photographs while spending time with his family. An avid and skilled
photographer, he could always capture the innate beauty of nature and
people. His capability of choosing the right subjects did not end there.
Even the most inanimate objects were brought to life in his photos. A
family statement reads, "He was a kind, loving, patient, selfless man
who was a genuine treasure to all." Survivors include his devoted loving
wife, Karen at home; his son, Andrew also at home; and his daughter,
Beth McNair of Hyde Park. He is also survived by his sister, Patricia
Mackey and her husband, Oliver, of Milton; his niece, Jean Marie Caisse
and her husband, Mark, of Santa Clara, Calif.; his nephew, Stepehen
Mackey and his wife, Tracy, of Milton; and grandnieces, Marissa and
Kelly. Additional survivors include his aunts, Mary Ranalli of Milton,
Agnes Puzio of Andover, Mass., Janet Mosca of Millbrook; and several
cousins. Friends may call from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m., Thursday, January
9, at the DiDonato Funeral Home, Route 9W, Marlboro. A Mass will be
celebrated at 10 a.m., Friday, January 10 at St. James Roman Catholic
Church, 12 Main St., Milton. Father Fred Kempfirl will officiate. Burial
will follow in St. Mary's Cemetery, Lattintown Road, Marlboro. In lieu
of flowers, memorial donations on Andy's behalf may be made to the
Sclerodema Foundation, Tri-State Chapter, 1182 Teaneck Road, Teaneck, NJ
07666. Arrangements were made by the DiDonato Funeral Home, Marlboro.
