Bresnan, Daniel J. 69, a retired teacher of European history at
Newburgh Free Academy, died on May 27, 2007 at the Kaplan Family Hospice
in Newburgh. He maintained homes on Yankee Lake and in Jensen Beach, Fla.
Dan spent much of his life enjoying all that he could. Friends will recall
stories of his frequent travels, spanning from childhood trips to Europe
with his mother, to more recent travels to the Caribbean and Mexico.
Reminiscence would be followed by grand plans for the next adventure,
planned from a dog-eared travel book, marked with an ever-present pencil
kept conveniently tucked under his watch. Dan also had a great fondness
for food. Not just any food and not always in great quantity, but very
specific meals: lamb with peas, Flounder Oreganata and, especially, duck
from Gus's. Of the many things that Dan enjoyed, none compared to spending
time with his family and friends at his beloved home on Yankee Lake. Those
who gathered for the many dinners there, will not soon forget them. Dan is
survived by cousins, many friends, and his cat, Ginger. he was predeceased
by his father, Daniel J. Bresnan, and by his mother, Rita

Burmeister,
Graham 94, died Thursday, April 28, 2011, at Heaton Woods Assisted
Living in Montpelier. Graham was born Jan. 14, 1917, in New Brunswick,
N.J., the son of Julius and Elsie, nee Graham, Burmeister. He was educated
in Yonkers and Queens, N.Y., and later in Tenafly and Passaic, N.J. Graham
left high school in order to pursue his career as an artist and sculptor.
He worked at the Roman Bronze foundry in New York, and then he became an
inspector at the Brewster Aircraft defense assembly plant in Long Island
City. Drafted into the Army Air Corps, Graham served as an artist,
attaining the rank of Tech 4, a specialist grade that was the wartime
equivalent of sergeant. He served in various posts in the southeastern
U.S. and completed his national service at the Recruiting Publicity Bureau
at Governors Island, N.Y. The love of Graham's life was his wife, Miriam,
whom he married in 1942. Their first child, Peter, was born on an air base
while Graham was serving his country. After the war, Graham, Miriam and
their young son moved to Wallkill, N.Y., where the couple was to make
their home for the next 61 years in the house that Graham designed. Their
children, now including daughter Alice and younger son Paul, were raised
in Wallkill. Graham was an intellectual with a strong interest in culture
and the arts. In 1964, he decided to complete the high school education he
had abandoned as a teenager, and received his GED. He then enrolled in the
State University College at New Paltz, N.Y., where he received a Bachelor
of Science and then a Master of Science in art education. Immediately
following his university graduation, he began a new career as an art
teacher at Newburgh Free Academy, Newburgh, N.Y., until his retirement in
1982. Thereafter Graham and Miriam divided their time between their homes
in Wallkill and Daytona Beach, Fla., and traveled widely throughout North
and South America and Europe. In 2003, Graham and Miriam moved to Hanover,
N.H., to be closer to their sons in Vermont and Massachusetts. Miriam
passed away in 2007, after which Graham moved again, this time to Heaton
Woods. Throughout his long life, Graham was a prolific visual artist. His
numerous oil paintings grace the homes of his children and grandchildren
and comprise an impressive collection of neo-impressionistic painting in
the tradition of Paul Cezanne. He also created various sculptures,
including portrait busts and full-length compositions. Graham's work was
seen in recent years at a group show in Montpelier as well as individual
exhibits in Montpelier and in Hanover, N.H. After moving to Vermont,
Graham continued to paint and enthusiastically participated in life
drawing classes in Montpelier, where he made many friends. A lifelong
aviation enthusiast, Graham was an avid designer, builder and flier of
model airplanes, many of them powered, with radio controls. Graham is
survived by his children: Peter (Katherine Fanelli), of Montpelier; Paul
(Gail Young), of Concord, Mass.; and Alice Tawresey (John), of Bainbridge
Island, Wash. He is also survived by his nine grandchildren: Heather,
Gwendolyn, Victoria, Parke (Sarah Plimpton) and Taylor Burmeister; Betsy
Twitchell (Kyle); Caitlin Badowski (Nate); Anna Puchalski (Steve); and
Steven Tawresey; as well as three great-grandchildren. His cousin, Julie
Freestone, and her partner, Rudi Raab, also survive. Anyone wishing to
give a donation in remembrance of Graham should direct it to Heaton Woods,
10 Heaton St., Montpelier, VT 05602. (Heaton Woods is a nonprofit
organization dedicated to serving central Vermont seniors.) Our family
wishes to thank Peggy Roque and her incredible staff for the loving care
and kindnesses given to Graham and to all of us while he was in residence
at Heaton Woods. Graham's passing leaves a void in our hearts, but we
rejoice in his legacy of artistic creation that is the tangible gift to us
all; of talent, creative spirit and artistic vision. A service of
remembrance will be held at Heaton Woods on Wednesday, May 11, at 2 p.m.

Craft, Michael of Newburgh -1997 A popular special education teacher
collapsed in front of his students yesterday morning at Newburgh Free
Academy and died an hour later, police and school officials said. Michael
Craft, 49, of New Windsor, was opening the door of his second-floor
classroom about 7:40 a.m. when he suffered a heart attack and fell
backward to the floor. A student called for a security guard, who dashed
into the classroom and found Craft barely breathing and unresponsive. The
security guard used his radio to call police and Mobile Life Support
Services, who arrived within minutes to find Principal Thomas Fogarty and
two other staffers giving Craft cardiopulmonary resuscitation. An
ambulance sped to St. Luke's Hospital, where Craft was pronounced dead
about 8:30 a.m. "Mike always had some kind of joke to tell, something to
make you laugh, something fun going on in his head. He was just a great
man," said Gail Wilson, a fourth-grade teacher at Temple Hill School in
New Windsor, where Craft taught before moving to NFA. "To make those
around him laugh - that was Mike's special gift. There was a real sense of
loss around Temple Hill today about our fallen colleague. This is such a
hard pill to swallow." Craft, a veteran of the district, was stricken
before the start of his first-period class. His death was announced during
the third-period homeroom, and students were told they would be dismissed
an hour early, at 2 p.m., so that the faculty could meet. I just thought
that because of the events of the day, we should send the kids home early
so we could meet with the entire staff," Fogarty said last night. "It's
just a shock for all of us. He's definitely going to be missed. He was a
very important part of our faculty and staff. He was a laid-back,
easygoing guy who en- joyed teaching and enjoyed a good time." A team
composed of guidance counselors and the school's psychologist was
assembled to help students cope with their grief. Counselors were also
made available to the school's staffers, and Fogarty said those measures
would remain for the entire week. "I don't think it's really sunk in yet,"
said Frank Colone, president of the Newburgh Teachers Association. "Mike
was - I would call him a very dedicated, professional teacher. He was a
great family man himself and as a special education teacher, he had a
special place in his heart for students with disabilities. I can't think
of anyone who's ever had an unkind word for Mike Craft, at any time. I
know that every teacher in the district today is feeling a sense of loss
and a sense of reality. I think sometimes we go about our jobs and
complain about things that happen during the course of the day. And then
something like this shocks you back into the world, and you begin to think
about what's important and what's not."

Wildermann, Paul Joseph Sr., age 46, of West Scranton died unexpectedly
Friday evening after being stricken ill. He and his wife, the former
Jennifer Barrett, celebrated their 10th wedding anniversary Oct. 23. He
was born in Ridgewood, N.J., son of the late Carl and Roberta Louise
Champury Wildermann. He and his family moved to Newburgh, N.Y., and he
was a graduate of Newburgh Free Academy High School. He received his
Bachelor of Science degree from Dominican College and his master's
degree in social work from Marywood University. Paul's career began with
his teaching high school history in schools of Newburgh, N.Y. He
relocated to Scranton, and spent his life serving others, including
children and families suffering from abuse and neglect while he worked
at Lackawanna County CYS. He also worked with families struggling with
domestic violence through developing Domestic Violence Intervention
Center Groups at the United Neighborhood Center. He counseled
individuals at Advance Community Counseling and running groups at drug
and alcohol treatment services. He was currently working with veterans
at the Veterans Administration Hospital of Wilkes-Barre, which he loved
very much, and often spoke fondly of his co-workers and the veterans he
served every day. Paul met his wife, Jennifer, at Lackawanna County CYS,
and they were hired on the same day in 1995. Shortly after meeting, they
became inseparable. They married and have two wonderful children, Paulie
and Mila. Paul died doing what he loved most, spending time with his
family and watching his son ski. Paul was devoted to his family, and
loved his children more than anything in life. Paul was truly a loving
and devoted soul. Paul loved watching Paulie play basketball, baseball,
soccer, karate and skiing. He couldn't wait to come home from work every
day because he loved watching Mila and playing hide and seek every night
with his children before bed. He was a very generous person, and his
last act of generosity was being an organ donor. He was a member of St.
Patrick's Church, West Scranton. Paul's family would like to thank the
All Saints Academy family for helping them in their time of need and
being there for Paulie and Mila. Their efforts and love will never be
forgotten. Also surviving are one son, Paul J. Wildermann Jr., age nine;
