Adams, Anne Barbara died on August 16, 2014, in Ithaca, NY.  She was 58 years old. Annie was born in Hanover, NH on July 31, 1956 to El and Barbara Block Adams. She graduated from Newburgh Free Academy in Newburgh, NY, fourth in her class. She earned a bachelor's degree from Cornell University in English and Latin, and a J.D. from Rutgers School of Law-Newark. Her father died in 1993. She is survived by her mother of Newburgh, NY and her siblings: Steve of New Windsor, NY; Amy and her husband, Howie Elterman of Brooklyn, NY; and Sam and his wife, Barbara, and their children, Aaron and Shira, of New Rochelle, NY. She leaves behind her beloved partner of 25 years, Lyn Donohue, and their home in Ithaca, NY. Annie will be mourned by her good friends, Peggy McKernan, Sue Levine, Elizabeth Schneider, and Cherie Donlin, among many others. Annie loved dogs, and had several beloved pets, leaving a sad Miss Peabody for Lyn. All animals, plants and the earth were precious to Annie, and she campaigned against cruelty to animals, including road kill and factory farming. Over the years, she created large signs warning "BE CAREFUL OF ANIMALS". Sometimes made of wood and stuffed animals, the signs were planted by the road in front of her and Lyn's house, and her neighbor, Peggy's. Annie was passionate about saving the earth from pollution and the destructive exploitation of its resources. She was an advocate for food products unadulterated with chemicals and antibiotics. Annie had enormous energy, until illnesses began to take over her body. She painted amazing constellations on the ceiling of her bedroom, bright stars against an indigo blue sky. She brought light into every room and love into every person she met. She especially enjoyed the families she helped as a crossing guard at Belle Sherman Elementary School. Her wit and intelligence remained strong until the end. Annie gave her many paintings to friends and family. She drew two books of humorous cartoons, Microbes and Chemotherapy, that she revised and improved until she could no longer hold a pen. She enlisted everyone who came to visit her in Hospicare to help collate and edit them. The chemotherapy cartoons are a testament to her courage, grace and sense of humor during her very difficult and painful cancer treatment. Additionally, with the help of her friend, Peggy, she finished writing her memoir. How she had time to be sick is a wonder. Annie's absence leaves a great emptiness in our lives, but her spirit will live in our hearts. We send heartfelt thanks to the chemotherapy nurses of the Cayuga Medical Center and to the staff of Hospicare. Arrangements are being made by Lansing Funeral Home, with burial at Greensprings Natural Cemetery on Wednesday, August 20, at 1:00 p.m. Contributions in Annie's memory may be made to Hospicare Palliative Care Services, 172 E. King Road, and/or the SPCA of Tompkins County, 1640 Hanshaw Road, both in Ithaca, NY 14850.

Andrews, Kimberly -  Born  Feb. 1, 1956   Died   Jan. 1976
Posted by Eric Cruise  I was told that at some point that she moved out of her parent’s home in Newburgh and moved in with her aunt. ( Possibly Hendricks ) Her aunt lived in a mobile home. From what I was told , a gas appliance caused an explosion at the home, and Kim was killed. This is what was relayed to me, by a mutual friend shortly after it happened. She was a great person and I was very lucky to have known her.

He moved to Graham, Texas in 2003 to become CEO of Wildercatter Records. Mickey married Mary L. Hiatt, November 11, 2006 at his Lucky 13 Ranch near Graham. Mickey Dawes, we met Mickey last year at the party we had at the Iverson Ranch for Eddie and Dearest 67 wedding anniversary, a quiet nice guy that really does a whale of a job with his brand of Cowboy Poetry, his new CD called "Smacked In The Saddle Again" is a killer, and to have two legends endorse it for you is like having two helpins' of whip cream on your wheaties, Mr. Gene Autry and the man with the built in smile, Mr. Monte Hale, actually there is another endorsement in that of Mickey's special guest on this CD, Mr. Herb Jeffries..Anyway if you have an "aut-toe" (that's country for car) with a CD player in it, or a cassette player either for that matter, then you oughta have one of these, you can just stick it in that player and laugh or smile for the next 97 miles. >> Mickey and I will MC the show Saturday and we know you will be talking about Mickey Dawes and his brand of poetry for a long time.
    ************************************
At the Cowboy Poetry Gathering in Elko, Nevada, a woman came up to Mickey Dawes and said, “Weren’t you in that movie?” He was. The movie wasn’t about cowboys or poetry. It was a law-enforcement training film on self-defense against knives. When Mickey was a deputy sheriff in upstate New York a knife-wielding perpetrator attacked him from behind and inflicted several wounds before Mickey could draw his weapon and dispose of the assailant. Mickey says the incident “ruined my day.” He described it in the film, Surviving Edged Weapons (Caliber Press). Thousands of law enforcement people have seen it, and it is credited with saving lives all across the country.  After recovering from his wounds, Mickey moved to Florida and took up the same line of work. Later he went into a less stressful line of work. Mickey claims he was born at least a hundred years too late. He inherited a love of all things Western and an overactive sense of humor, so about two years ago he set out to keep the tradition of the West alive by writing and performing humorous cowboy poetry. As a founding member of the Working Ranch Cowboys Association, a life member of the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo, and a member of the Director’s Circle of the Autry Museum of Western Heritage, Dawes promotes our Western heritage whenever and wherever possible. Mickey gets around. He has performed at the Montana Cowboy Poetry Gathering, the National Cowboy Symposium, the Gene Autry Oklahoma Film and Music Festival, the Sagebrush Western Folk Arts Festival, and regularly on WQYK radio in Tampa Bay, Florida. Mickey and his very understanding wife, Brenda, live on a little Florida ranch called Hich Lonesome (named by Monte Hale). They are “surrounded by horses, cats, dogs, armadillos (possums on the half shell) and any other critter that decides to come over for supper.”  Mickey Dawes, who perpetrated a book of his humorous cowboy poems titled Smacked in the Saddle Again, says the goal of every one of his performances is the same, “Start out with a room full of strangers and leave with a room full of friends."

    Smacked in the Saddle Again
    Mickey Dawes
What will they think of next, I pondered
As I set there astride my ol' Kack
The government says these old saddles aint' safe
They've passed legislation regarding our tack.
    Now, I bet I know what you're a thinkin'
Cause I've told you a story or two
But I'll betcha my brand new riata
    That this story's entirely true.
It seems that some Federal inspector
Who thinks he knows better, of course
Says, "we boys are in danger in case of a wreck
While we're out there a ridin' our horse."
During unscheduled meetings with the old saddle horn
There's no safety equipment to help
When the Wranglers slide forward and momentum is stopped
It'll likely result in a yelp.
At this point in time, with a flying dismount
Even the Russian judge gives us a ten
As the dust starts to settle, the swelling begins
For a moment, we regret that we're men.
So, in order to stop all the pain
And avoid wearin' jeans that are torn
The government says all new saddles must have
An airbag inside of the horn.
The next time that we blow a stirrup
And get sideways while ridin' like fools
The horn cap will pop, the bag will inflate
Thereby, protectin' the old family jewels.
When I told all the boys this here story
As we sat in the White Elephant bar
Old Charley got mad, turned red in the face
Said, "this time they've gone way too far".
Knowin' that I had him hooked
I decide to reel em' on in
That aint' all, I started to say
While I stood there a sportin' a grin.
The next thing we need is a back up alarm
That warns folks that are off to the rear
And a mirror that's hung on the headstall
Saying, "cattle are closer than they really appear."
All the boys started laughin', Old Chartey was silent
As he sat there just like an old mummy
I said, "Don't worry Old Pard, look at er' this way
You'd be perfect as a saddle crash dummy."

Fescoe, John J. Jr. of Marlboro, NY, entered into eternal peace on March 13, 2009. He was 54 years young. The son of the late John Sr. and Frances Shaw Fescoe, John was born February 10, 1955 in Newburgh, NY, the youngest of three children. John spent his early years growing up in New Windsor and later made his home in Marlboro with his wife, Mary, and their two children, John III and Meghan. An avid sportsman, John spent much of his life either playing sports or as he got older, coaching. As a young man, John had numerous awards for baseball and was an outstanding pitcher for New Windsor Little League. He played on several championship teams. When not on a baseball field or basketball court, John spent cherished moments fishing with his dad. So many times he shared their fishing stories with his friends & family. John also was active in the Quassaick Fire Department for several years before moving to Marlboro. On July 10, 1982, John married the love of his life, Mary V. Gregorec Fescoe. Together, they had two beautiful children, John III & Meghan Elizabeth. It was as his children grew, John took his knowledge of sports and shared it as a coach for his children as well as countless children in Marlboro & Newburgh. Some of John's favorite memories and stories that always put a smile on his face were coaching his son's little league teams and his C.Y.O. basketball teams. He also coached Meghan's softball and basketball teams. The most precious memory John spoke of was when he and the late Joe Toombs started and coached the baseball team "The Marlboro Mutts". John's dream was truly just to get a group of kids together, play some baseball and have fun. Anyone who knew John, coached with John or played for John always knew that it never mattered about winning or losing, it was just about having fun. In his later years John took tremendous pride in following his daughter Meghan around the east coast with her A.A.U. basketball team, always pride gleaming from his eyes. Family was John's life. Even though he battled cancer for ten years, he never once said "why me" or gave up hope. Anyone close to John drew strength from his courage. John is survived by his loving wife of 26 years, Mary, at home. His son, John III has lost his idol and his loving daughter, Meghan, who worshiped her dad, has lost her hero. He was Meghan's world and it's hard to imagine going on without him. John is also survived by a sister, Mrs. Beverly Leslie and her husband, Robert of Dorsett, VT; his mother-in-law & father-in-law, Frank & Betty Gregorec; his sisters-in-law, Mrs. Barbara Fescoe, and Susan Madaia and her husband, Mike; his brother-in-law, Frank; nephews, Mathew Madaia and Michael Madaia and his wife Teri; several nieces, nephews, cousins and numerous friends. His constant companions, Jake & Reese will be lost without him. John was predeceased by his older brother, Robert Fescoe. The family will be present to receive friends today, Monday, March 16, from 4-8 p.m. at Coloni Funeral Home, 3001 Rt. 9W, New Windsor, NY 12553. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Tuesday, March 17, at 11 a.m., at Our Lady of Mercy in Rosten, NY. Burial will be private. In lieu of flowers, the family would like donations to be made to Memorial Sloane-Kettering Hospital, PO Box 27106, New York, NY 10087-7106 or St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Pl., Memphis, TN 38105

Richard was a great musician, the best drummer on skins. He was always drumming and had music in his heart ever since he was a little boy. He was a rock star at heart and we will also remember him as a cool guy who is probably making music in heaven. He wrote many songs, thoughts, lyrics, and stories. He loved writing things down. He loved his family, especially his Mom, who always loved and cared for him. He took care of her as well, until his death and always was coming home with little treats and gifts for her. He loved animals, all animals and was especially enamored with birds. He cared for his two beautiful birds in his home and all the birds outside. He was a very beautiful soul with a huge heart. He would give to everyone if he could, whether he knew you or not. Some of his favorite things- pizza, pepsi, hagendaz, Hershey's chocolate bars, italian food. He had a great sense of humor and always had his family and friends laugh at his antics. He will be sadly missed by his family and friends. We look forward to the day we will meet again, and we are happy that he is happy, carefree and at peace with God. Memorial donations can be made in Richard's name to any charities that care for the homeless and hungry as well as organizations that care for animals such as the ASPCA. These donations would have pleased Richard.
